George and Anna's baby

Sounds like George and Anna had a boy! Congrats!

We gathered our thoughts here, and decided that this is a good opportunity to use a truly unique Jones name. We suggest the following list:

James Earl
Tommy Lee
Davy
Casey
John Paul

I think any of these would be quite popular. Mike, Howard, and Jesus would also be popular for the music crowd :)

Way to go!

Personal Progress

Courtney finished her Personal Progress requirements, and got her Young Womanhood recognition award on Sunday. She looks forward to coasting through the program for her next five years-- ha, ha, just kidding.

Went running with the kids this morning and played some basketball. Courtney, Hal, and I are planning to participate in a 5K run on April 5th in Macedonia, OH. Hopefully the snow is off the ground by that time.

Looking forward to our upcoming trip to Ft. Wayne!

Bee week

Saw two movies on video this week that we liked. Watched the Bee movie on video on Wednesday night. It was pretty funny, and the kids got a kick out of it. This afternoon we watched Akeelah and the Bee, which was a nice feel-good movie.

The snow is starting to melt off now a little bit, which is a welcome relief. Last Saturday we had 20 inches of snow fall in one day. Church was canceled, so we had our own version of church at home.

Hal made 10 mini-loaves of pumpkin bread this afternoon, which turned out great. We're saving some for tomorrow. Also on the culinary docket this week is homemade oatmeal pancakes. We mixed up the batter today, and are going to cook some up before church tomorrow. Hoping for a better result than from Aunt Jemima!

We went to a progressive dinner last night, and learned that Allyson Woodworth, who is a friend in our ward, is originally from Frankfort, Indiana. She also knows Amy & Pat, and remembers fondly double-dating to a prom with Amy and eating from a trough. Sounds like fun!

Courtney started on her school track team this week, and they are starting out running 2 1/2 miles three times a week, then as the season gets closer, they will be running every day.

Famous "Aunt" poisons unsuspecting children

Little did they know, but the Jones household fell prey to food poisoning by one of the most famous "aunts" around -- Aunt Jemima!

The sordid tale began with a Saturday morning pancake breakfast last week at the Jones household. I had a layer of hot fudge on my pancake, topped with whipped cream and mini chocolate chips. Others added cherries, whipped cream, raspberries, or more traditional toppings. Little did we know, that the mix we were eating would be identified this week for a recall !

We felt OK after eating the pancakes, but then everyone got sick to their stomachs (except Tyler, who appears to be impervious to harm). The three other school-age kids missed school the first part of the week, with what we thought was stomach flu. One thing that made us wonder though, was that the stomach sickness seemed to cause real pain, not just nausea.

Wednesday school was canceled, due to ice. Teresa used the remaining batter to make another batch of pancakes, after which everyone who ate them got sick again. After a week or so, That's when we got suspicious and Teresa found the reference to the recall. The UPC from the pack matched that of the recall. Only one kid is still throwing up, but it has been a yucky week. Teresa left a message at the company, and after all this sickness, we are expecting an apology from Aunt Jemima herself!

The Soy Sauce Incident

Dan is about 2 years and 9 months old now, and appears to be at the height of his mess-making prowess. This week we had an event known as the "soy sauce incident" where Dan found soy sauce in the fridge and spread it around the house, the carpet, and on himself.

Unfortunately, that's not where it ended-- the picture above is a stuffed alligator that was a casualty of the "ketchup incident." The ketchup incident consisted of a whole family-size bottle of ketchup being emptied around the house.

Round 3 this week occurred after Dan was banned from the kitchen, and is known as the "yellow craft paint incident." The carpets have not fully recovered from that incident.

Other incidents this week included the "2 broken curtain rods incident" and the "broken dresser drawer incident." We love Dan, but this is a pretty exciting stage of life for us!!
