Elder Tyler Jones week 90

We had a good week!

Julia got baptized! We got her all ready to be baptized this week and we had her baptismal service right after church on Sunday. It was really awesome since so many people were able to attend. They seem really happy though. She went to primary again today and In a couple months she's going to start going to young womens. We were talking to the Young womens president about seeing if she could go to Girls camp but she just barely misses the cut off. But either way they've been making lots of friends in the ward and they're really happy to be here. They want us to start working on Julia's brother now. He's a little bit older and living with his girlfriend but they want us to try to get him coming as well. So we'll do what we can.

Had a fun experience on a bike this week. So, in this area I'm just using another elder's bike to get around but the problem is that his bikes front portion with the handlebars and the wheel aren't really attached to the frame to well so its a little shaky sometimes. We were riding home from an appointment we had and there was a guy on the side of the street. So, I decided to stop and talk to him. But as I put on the brake and began to slow down the entire front just gave out and it flipped me over the front of the handlebars. I didn't really get hurt too bad at all but it was a really good conversation starter with the guy on the side of the street.
Other than that we've been visiting a lot of our less active members. It's been pretty good. We've been trying to introduce more and more people to family history and people are generally really interested.

They've got me signed up for "My Plan" now. That's a program they have returning missionaries do to prepare them to return from a mission. It hasn't really become real to me yet that I'll be going home soon.

But anyway, things are going pretty great. I'm really enjoying this ward.

I hope you have a great week!

Elder Tyler Jones week 89

That’s awesome that you guys are in Atlanta! I hope you have a lot of fun.

We had a great week!

Yesterday we met with a lady that hadn’t been to church in 21 years. She was baptized in Mexico and came here and stopped coming.  A missionary that had taught her got in contact and directed her to church here.  She came back to church a week ago but we still didn’t know who everyone was yet. But someone directed us to her and we went to visit them on Saturday.  They’re very excited to be coming back to church.  They came to watch conference and loved it as well.  She has an 11 year old daughter that really wants to be baptized as well.  They’re going on vacation for a bit the 12th of April and they wanted her to be baptized before then.  So she’s being baptized this Sunday.

We’re super excited for that!

General conference was awesome!  My old mission president, President Mella was announced as an area seventy in general conference.  Also, Elder Gong is from Redwood City which is really close to where I’m serving right now.  Lots of cool changes-- that will be good.

They’ve been telling us to use family history a lot more recently.  So for the first time this week we started talking to people right from the start about family history.  We talked to this little old Peruvian lady that just lit up when we started talking about family history.  Telling us all her stories about her ancestors.  So that was pretty cool, we’re going back Saturday with a family history consultant to help her get started.

Sorry to hear you guys are feeling sick. I hope you get feeling better!

Ramirez - Perez family

Elder Tyler Jones week 88

We had a good week. Our area is ginormous. It covers Santa Clara up to Mountainview around Los Altos. It’s all densely populated as well.
That’s been really cool.

A lot of people here are family members to people in my past areas
which is pretty cool. It’s kind of like already knowing the ward.

So it’s been great here, excited for Easter, general conference and
April fools day.

Have a great week!

That’s super awesome to hear about Allie going to Morocco. That’ll be so fun. That’s pretty cool to hear about Chuck and Amy moving into ft Wayne.

We had a pretty good week this week.

We had a lot of rain this week. I found a rain jacket in the closet here though so I was able to keep pretty dry. It’s good to have he rain. It doesn’t rain a whole lot here so whenever we get rain it’s good for the area. Not too many people want to open the door in the rain though which is a bit harder.

We got to meet with Gerardo this week. He’s doing well. He’s preparing to be baptized on May 17th! So that’s super awesome. They went to Lake Tahoe later thins week to enjoy the snow out there. It sounds like they had a lot of fun. They also went to church out there which is pretty cool.

This week I found out that I’m getting transferred to Los Altos. It’s pretty close to Menlo Park, one of my old areas. It’s where a lot of tech company campuses are, like Google. So that should be cool. There’s a Spanish branch there I’ll be working with.

So I’ve been doing a lot of packing and saying goodbye. It’s been a good area here.

Well, I hope you guys have another great week!

Elder Tyler Jones week 86

We had another good week.

Herbert hasn’t answered the door or his phone at all. So that’s a bit disappointing. Not really sure what happened. We asked one of the people fellowshipping him to reach out and see what happened.

We talked to gerrardo, he’s doing really well. He has a meeting tommorow to try to get divorced to his wife in Mexico. He’s trying to get married to his girlfriend here in the United States so he can be baptized. He’s already had 3 kids with her and they’ve been living together for a long time. They don’t have contact with his wife in Mexico so they’re working that all out tommorow. Hopefully all goes well with that.

I fixed up one of the bikes in the area so we’ve been able to go out biking more which has been a lot of fun.
We had some rain this week and apparently we’re supposed to have a lot more next week. So that’ll be an exciting adventure.

We climbed mission peak today. That was a lot of fun. We started the hike at around 7 and got done around 11. It was a pretty steep hike but the views were pretty cool. From the top you could see the entire bay. From San José up to Oakland and San Francisco. So that was a lot of fun.  Going down was a lot more fun than going up.

I hope you guys have another great week!
